06/25 - Charlemont Downriver Race

The Charlemont Race  proved to be a perfect finish to the NECKRA Downriver season. The Deerfield River was really rocking at about 2400cfs, far above the usual 850cfs. This turned what is usually an easy Class I/II run into an exhilarating whitewater adventure full of thrills (and for some, spills & chills). Amazingly, after three days of rain, the skies cleared, and the sun came out just in time for the race, which took place under beautiful blue skies. As soon as the race was over and the participants were safely indoors awaiting awards, the skies clouded over and a deluge began.
