Sorry to get this out so late but I was hoping the water would have receded by now. The parking lot is mostly flooded and the river is at the top of the banks with snags all along the way. The board of selectman have closed the Park. I would really like to hold the event but there are too many forces I cannot control to hold it safely !! count to our caterer near the event. The banquet is being held at the Elks club in Northampton. Very brief meeting: The meeting will be kept extremely brief to allow for better end-of-year socializing, awards and prize drawing. This also facilitates getting paddlers on their way back home at a tolerable time. Except for voting for officers and brief comments, the actual annual meeting substance is conducted at the competition meeting held later in the year with everyone invited. This is where the planning is done. PRIZES: As of now we will again be doing the glass mugs for the top percentage of finishers in each of the categories for both canoe and kayak. We haven't received or come up with other alternatives. It is not too late, so if any one has an exciting alternative which would price-out the same, or comments on feelings about the mugs, please reply - probably to me only to keep from unwanted volumes of group emails. Also, give me feedback on the points races drawing prizes. I will be ordering these soon, and want to consider good items we haven't thought of in the past. Same $ allotment, so we can't get too outrageous. We will again be having the two ZRE paddles and one Epic kayak paddle as top prizes, and will have our Bag Lady's canoe and kayak boat covers/paddle bags. We have been averaging 60 people a year, and the food has been spectacular. Spectacular people too of course. Thanks, Bob and

The 13 member Executive Committee of NECKRA has approved a grant to Kaitlyn McElroy of $200, to support her expenses for travel and lodging and food for the World and Pam Am Championships that she will be attending. This amount matches the amount that NECKRA granted to Mark Wendolowski earlier this year. As members of the US Kayak and the US Wildwater teams, neither Kaitlyn nor Mark receive travel money to compete in the international competitions. We are enormously proud of both Mark and Kaitlyn. Mark recently competed in the ICF Wildwater Sprint World Championships in Augsburg, Germany. Kaitlyn is our Olympic hopeful for London 2012.
