Changes to Point Series Handicaps

At the NECKRA Competition Meeting in November, some changes were made to the point series handicaps for 2018. The changes approved were:
  • the addition of a C4 handicap
  • the combining of the Touring and Sea Kayak classes
In addition, there were some changes to some of the age handicaps for older paddlers, which were approved at the 2017 NECKRA Competition Meeting.

Free Paddling Clinic on June 7

NECKRA and the Mahar School paddling program in Orange, MA, are pleased to announce that there will be a free youth and adult kayak and canoe clinic, on Sunday, June 7th at the Orange Boathouse in Orange, MA.

The clinic will be held from 12:00 - 2:00.  All youth and adults  who would like to improve their paddling skills, with an eye towards entering a canoe and kayak race, are cordially invited.  Bring a boat if you have access to one.  We will have some kayaks and canoes, and the Peak Expedition Boathouse can rent a boat and paddle at a modest price.

There will be instructors for both kayaking and canoeing.  NECKRA will provide light refreshments after the clinic.

Come join us!!

Ware and Hockanum Results, Points Updated

The results have been posted for the Ware River Race and the Hockanum River Race. In addition, the Flatwater and Downriver points have been updated.

Nayaug Results, Final Flatwater Points

The results from the Nayaug Canoe and Kayak Race have been posted. As this was the last point-series race of the year, the final Flatwater Points standings have been posted, barring any corrections.

Paddle Battle and Holyoke Results, Points Updated

Results for the Connecticut River Paddle Battle and the Holyoke Rows Oktoberfest races have been posted. The Flatwater Points have also been updated.

Stone Dam Results and Points Updated

The results from the Great Stone Dam race are now on the website. The flatwater points have been updated to reflect the results of this race.

NE Championships, CT River Challenge Results

The results for the New England Championships and the Connecticut River Challenge have been posted on the website. Also, the Flatwater Points standings have been updated to include the results from these races.

Holyoke Rows Boathouse Challenge

Results for the Holyoke Rows Boathouse Challenge have been posted and the Flatwater points standings have been updated.

Connecticut C1/K1 Championships

The results have been posted for the Connecticut C1/K1 Championships held on Sunday July 13. High water and strong winds from the south made for some rough water. All paddlers made it to the finish safely, though some were wetter than others.

Two photographers were there to capture the action. You can see their photos here and here. Thanks to Bonnie Burnham and Ray Thiel for providing these photos.

Finally, the Flatwater Points have been updated.
